Warming Sexual Lubricants
Warming lubricants are personal lubricants that are designed to enhance sensation and sexual arousal. There are many types of personal lubricants you can use for solo masturbation or partner sex for a sensual experience.
Water-based Lubes
Water-based lubricants are great for both masturbation and sex. Water-based lubes tend to be a bit thicker than oil-based and silicone lubes and usually don’t last as long. This is easily fixed by applying water or more lube. However, some of lubes tend to get a bit sticky as they dry, although many just absorb into the skin and moisturize. Women should avoid lubes with sugars and glycerin, and some people may be sensitive to parabens. This is why a few companies are coming out with all natural lubricants and paraben-free lubricants.
Oil-based Lubes
Oil-based lubricants are made from vegetable oils. These are great lubes for male masturbation, but are not safe for use with condoms or latex sex toys as they break down the latex. Also, women should avoid oil-based lubes as they can cause infections.
Silicone Lubes
Silicone lubricants are chemical based all purpose personal lubricants. They are well liked for their long lasting ability and are great for penetrative sex, both vaginal and anal. Silicone lubes should not be used with silicone sex toys as they will cause a chemical reaction and “melt” the toy.
Warming Lubes
Warming lubricants warm upon application. Some warming lubes come in Hers and His and cause a cooling, warming, tingling reaction when mixed together like Wet’s Together. Other types of warming lubricants are flavored and great for oral sex.

Stimulating Lubes
As if the above were not enough, many manufacturers also make stimulating lubricants for men and women. Stimulating lubes can include warming lubes, but also include cooling, tingling, desensitizing and stimulating gels. Cooling lubes create a cooling sensation and desensitizing lubes numb to delay orgasm in men. Stimulating and tingling gels stimulate and help bring the blood flow to the genitals to increase arousal. These are sexual enhancing lubricants great for women and come in clitoral and G-spot types. Some gels even tighten the vaginal tissues temporarily, but it is important to avoid products like these that contain alum. Some lubricants even contain pheromones which are designed to awaken the libido.
Flavored Lubes
Finally, we have flavored lubricants which are mainly water-based products that sweeten up oral sex and are also used for a tasty, sensual massage. Some of these also tingle, enhance, cool, warm, tingle and stimulate as well. Women should be wary of flavored lubes with sugars or glycerin as these can cause yeast infections. Many flavored lubes also come in sugar and glycerine-free. |
